ImageLast night, a few of the Shira Oka development team got together for some tacos and game development.

This meeting was different, however. There was anticipation in the air.

For weeks, I've been talking about my RC helicopter. A Blade CP Pro. Impossible to fly, yet with every practice session, I felt closer to mastery (or, at least, getting it to hover in place).

So after working out some UI texturing issues and laying out the settings screen requirements, we headed to the local park. Just a playground, really. But with a grassy field. Perfect for any bad landings which I knew would eventually happen.

Chris (Sydius) the software engineer, Kathleen the onion(skinner), April Nya Nya, and Colleen the Sunny Tanuki watched on in the dimly moonlit field as I initialized the gyros, tested the servos, and spun up the main rotors to warm up the battery pack.

This week and the week to come, we're continuing to experiment with different textures for the stat box that's featured on the main screen of the game, as well as textures for the button panel. Since we've already notified everyone via email about the timed choices dilemma, we figured that this gives us about a week's more time before finally posting the main screen screenshot (since we'd like to email everyone when that happens, and I really don't want to spam our community members' mailboxes).

The plotlines for the cast of characters is becoming more solid. What happens to them towards the end lays down the foundation for what's to happen in the early game, so it's really important that we get that correct and finalized before moving on to the next step.

We've tentatively decided to use ambient sounds punctuated by character and mood theme loops as background audio (rather than always having something musical). I feel that this gives the music, when it does occur, more poignancy and relevance. If there was always music being played, I fear that the music will blend together and not be as memorable. And I kinda look forward to putting together a
