A long-awaited update

Thanks to our forum member leetbeef, I realized that it's been a while since we've given
an update on the status of Shira Oka: Second Chances. As I've said to
people time and time again, while I still stand by the whole "It's done
when it's done", I also stand by the notion of giving enough information
out so that people can form their own conclusions.
So here goes.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of graphics import work. All of the eye and mouth frames are being placed onto the static character images (which are now complete, barring corrections here and there as we notice them) in-game, and being scrutinized for correctness of eye blinking and lip motions.
Meanwhile, the writing team has been busy coding up random event dialogue. It's our goal that for a given playthrough of the game, the player should never have to see the same line twice from a particular character, so as you can imagine, there is a LOT of dialogue. But we've been at it for months now.
Dialogue for dates have been completed as of a few months ago.
Back to the art side of things for a moment, we are steadily sketching out and coloring all of the backgrounds in the game. This is a pipelined process, so the coloring is always lagging behind the prototyping and sketching, obviously. A lot of work in particular is going into consistency, so that the school and town of Shira Oka be as real as possible.
Basic in-game animations are mostly complete, and is in the process of consistency tweaks. The advanced animations follow the writing team, and so naturally lags behind that.
On the software side of things, the UI is functional and is in the process of prettification. This will be an ongoing process until beta, at which point we will freeze that stage of work.
On the other side of the Pacific, Colleen and I spent the weekend in Hawaii searching for the ultimate bowl of ramen. I'm trying to convince her to put up one of the activity animations as a teaser. We'll see.
Back I go into the trenches. I apologize for the lack of updates. Those who will be seeing us at the upcoming conventions, though...I promise you all a nice treat for the eyes. And no, I don't mean seeing me in a seirufuku.
